We are looking for a trustworthy, reliable, communicative team member to help us grow our architectural & design firm. As an Architectural Designer at Verdant Studio, you will work on the development of new projects, starting with conceptual ideas and taking them to fully realized works. Although we are a multidisciplinary firm, you will primarily work as the lead on architecture projects carrying them through various stages in the design and development process, working collaboratively with your entire team, directing them on a daily basis.
The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards in attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and have an ability to take initiative, and prioritize daily tasks. A strong ability to take charge and meet tight deadlines will ensure your success in this role.
Job Description
The Architectural Designer will take a project from early client contact and proposal preparation with the firm leadership to site analysis and code and zoning considerations, to building completion making sure to meet the project’s goals on time and on budget while clearly communicating with the client, consultants, contractor, and your design team. Although you may have the support of designers, drafters, modelers, renderers, technical assistance, and production by the studio as a whole, your position will require knowledge of all aspects of a building project. Beyond your project-specific work, we expect you to represent Verdant in the community by participating in events and organizations that are important to you including professional networking and business development.
Required Skills and Tasks
Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the entire team, consultants, and clients.
Provide leadership to other team members, including professional development coaching and mentoring.
Plan and develop multiple projects of varying scope, under minimal to no supervision.
Develop and validate project scope, construction budget, project schedule, and design fee, during the marketing and proposal/contract development process.
Provide leadership to project team by coordinating and motivating members of the design team, provide effective problem solving in addressing project challenges by providing solutions that are consistent with the service philosophy of the firm and the goals of the project.
Assist in preparing and leading project presentations and deliverables. May involve travel.
Consistently provide complete and timely communication of project information to and from clients and the project team. All projects must be managed through the Monograph Project Management system; including identification of project team members, budget, consultants, schedule for completion, fees and costs as well as project change notices or other actions taking place on the assigned project.
Maintain client relationships throughout the project. Keep the client apprised of project progress on regular basis. Initiate and maintain contact with other key project individuals for clarification, coordination, and negotiation of critical issues. Report to Executive Leadership any issues or successes.
Put together a complete set of construction documents and develop details for project components as necessary to create complete documents without oversite or direction and through all phases of work.
Design and verify that each project complies with all code and zoning requirements
Perform construction administration services, on-site, and through review of shop drawings, RFI’s, submittals, etc. Lead and teach other team members throughout the process.
Communicate with consultants, contractors, sub-consultants and other disciplines to ensure effective communication, budget and deadline compliance as outlined in the contract.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or a related discipline required
Minimum 2+ years of experience as an architectural designer
2+ Years proficiency in ArchiCAD, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Revit, Lumion
Portfolio of successful projects
